The target anatomical structure\u2014comprising the mandibular condyle, articular disc, and the dense retrodiscal tissue matrix\u2014is buried beneath hyper-tonic masseter musculature, dense cortical bone layers, and highly sensitive periosteal tissues. Unlike bulkier skeletal regions, the lateral aspect of the face offers minimal soft tissue cushioning over the bony architecture of the zygomatic arch.
