A horse may have no dramatic injury on the surface, yet its performance drops because the underlying muscle, fascia or joint problem has changed how it moves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is where veterinary high-intensity laser treatment becomes difficult.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The animal cannot tell the therapist when a treatment area is becoming too warm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The clinician has to judge tissue response, anatomical depth, treatment area, movement and energy delivery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That is why the phrase <strong>laser pet therapy<\/strong> is too broad to describe the actual clinical process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A small dog hip, a Labrador elbow, a postoperative stifle and a horse&#8217;s lumbar muscles are completely different treatment targets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The same power setting cannot reasonably be transferred between them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The same total Joules cannot automatically be transferred either.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A useful example comes from a randomized controlled trial involving 20 dogs with bilateral hip osteoarthritis.
