High-Power Laser Therapy for Spinal Cervical Spondylosis

Patient:

a 28-year-old woman, came to the clinic with bilateral weakness in arm raising, leg weakness, and eye fatigue for 3 months.

Assessment and examination:

● Straight cervical curvature
● Pressure pain in the posterior cervical muscle groups (+)
● Limited mobility and pain in cervical posterior extension, left rotation and right rotation
● Pressure pain in the scapular retractor muscles (+), and in the right upper dorsal segment muscle groups (+), and in the trapezius muscles (+)
● Muscle strength: shoulder abductors, grade 4; extensor elbow group, grade 2 on the right side, and grade 3 on the left side
● Hoffman positive

Diagnostic imaging:

●MRI cervical C2-6 disc herniation and degeneration, dural sac compression, spinal canal stenosis.
●EMG: myogenic damage, peripheral nerve damage.

Treatment plan: Comprehensive diagnosis and treatment standards for cervical disc herniation compressing the spinal cord and nerve injury are given, and the neck muscles are loosened by manual release and joint loosening combined with physical high-energy laser treatment, twice a week, 10 minutes each time for 4 consecutive weeks, and at the same time cooperate with cervical functional exercises and overall exercises to improve nerve compression and relieve discomfort.
