FREQUENTLY ASKED & QUEASTIONS

What is anal fistula?

An anal fistula is a small tunnel between the anal canal and the opening of the skin around the anus. Inside the anus, there are a number of small glands that sometimes get clogged or infected, developing a pus-filled abscess near the anus. This abscess is drained naturally or with external help by creating a small channel. The opening of this channel on the surface of your skin is known as an anal fistula.

What is endofistula laser ablation?

The laser energy is delivered by radial fiber into the anal fistula tract and is used to ablate thermally and close off the abnormal pathway. The laser energy induces destruction of the fistula epithelium and simultaneous obliteration of the remaining fistula tract by a shrinkage effect. The same technique can be used for minimally invasive closure of pilonidal sinus cases.

Why choose endofistula laser ablation?
  • High success rate, immediate relief of symptoms
  • No need for open incision
  • No scars
  • Simple and safe out-patient treatment
  • Very good hemostasis, minimal blood loss
  • Minimal damage to the surrounding tissue, such as anal sphincter
  • Reduced pain and discomfort
  • Improved quality of life
  • Quick recovery, minimal risk of post-surgical complications
