Strong Alliance: Using the Laboratory as a Link to Activate the Core Momentum of Medical-Engineering Fusion

Three years ago, based on a common vision for innovation, the two parties co-built the High-Energy Laser Medicine and Semiconductor Laboratory. With the laboratory as the core collaborative link, the Tsinghua Strait Research Institute coordinates top scientific research forces to provide academic support, while Fotonmedix leverages its industrial advantages to promote the transformation of achievements. Together, they have created a complete innovation closed-loop of “Basic Research – Technical Research – Product Implementation,” becoming a benchmark cooperation project in the field of medical-engineering and semiconductor fusion for the Institute.

Three Years of Fruits: Laboratory Tackles Challenges, From Technical Breakthroughs to Clinical Benefits

Over the past three years, Fotonmedix has always been guided by “solving clinical pain points.” Relying on the High-Energy Laser Medicine and Semiconductor Laboratory, it has focused on core application scenarios for various clinical cases, overcome several core technical difficulties, and developed multiple laser light source products adapted to different clinical needs, providing solid scientific support for the development of precision laser treatment.

The laboratory created a 1000W ultra-high-power Thulium Fiber Laser light source for urology, achieving the efficient and minimally invasive upgrade of urological surgery. It innovatively developed a focused brain nerve modulation laser light source, opening a new path for the precise modulation and treatment of cranial nerve diseases. It launched a multi-wavelength mixed-frequency ultrafast laser light source for orthopedics, adapting to various complex orthopedic treatment scenarios and promoting orthopedic laser treatment toward refinement and personalization. It successfully developed a colorful fundus laser scanning imaging light source and an ultra-stable laser light source for retinal photocoagulation, filling technical gaps in the field of precision ophthalmic laser diagnosis and treatment, and significantly improving the precision and stability of fundus disease diagnosis and treatment.

Relying on the collaborative R&D power of the laboratory, Fotonmedix‘s laser medicine achievements were published in a sub-journal of Nature, deciphering the “laser treatment code” for asthma and pneumonia for the first time globally, solving the pain points of traditional drug treatments, and achieving an original breakthrough in Chinese laser medicine. At the same time, Fotonmedix relies on the laboratory to continuously promote technical research and industrial transformation, committing to the cost optimization and technical popularization of laser medical equipment. As of now, Fotonmedix has applied for more than 50 patents, and its core technologies have been successfully applied to top global enterprises, achieving a win-win for academic and industrial value.

In the future, Fotonmedix will take the third anniversary of the laboratory’s establishment as a new starting point to continue deepening strategic cooperation, continuously improve the laboratory R&D system, deepen the integration of industry, academia, and research, focus on global cutting-edge laser technology, expand into more diversified application scenarios, and continue to break through industry technical bottlenecks, injecting a steady stream of innovative power into the high-quality development of Chinese laser medicine.
