Application of dog laser therapy in Accelerating Healing After Pathological Hysterectomy

Introduction

Pathological uterine conditions can cause acute symptoms in female dogs, such as fever, abdominal pain, and loss of appetite, and may even lead to systemic infection, shock, or death. Long-term, these conditions severely impact the quality of life of female dogs and increase the risk of other systemic diseases. High-power laser therapy is an advanced physical treatment method with rapid effects and no side effects. In recent years, it has been widely adopted in veterinary medicine. By delivering high-energy-density laser irradiation, it promotes tissue repair, relieves pain, and improves blood circulation.

This report documents the complete clinical application of the veterinary laser therapy machine in post-operative care for a female dog after pathological hysterectomy, demonstrating dog laser therapy provides comfort and effective treatment for pets.

05 Case Summary

Short-term recovery:
Xigua, a 7-year-old female dog, recently experienced decreased appetite and poor mental state. After noticing abnormalities, the owner immediately took her to Xinjiang Agricultural University First Animal Hospital. The veterinary team conducted a comprehensive examination, revealing that Xigua suffered from both pathological uterine issues and pancreatitis. With extensive clinical experience and professional insight, Dr. Zhang performed a hysterectomy, successfully resolving the uterine problem.

To accelerate recovery, Dr. Zhang utilized VetMedix (VETMEDIX) small animal high-power laser therapy for precise post-operative rehabilitation. After three laser therapy sessions, Xigua’s wound healed exceptionally well, exceeding expectations. The high-power laser effectively reduced inflammation, improved local blood circulation, accelerated tissue repair, and significantly lowered the risk of post-operative infection.

Long-term follow-up:
After discharge, Xigua underwent a full re-examination at the hospital. Results showed that the surgical wound continued to heal well, with fading scars and normalized surrounding tissue—no discharge was observed. Her appetite and mental state gradually returned to normal.

Conclusion

This case strongly demonstrates the remarkable efficacy of dog laser therapy in post-operative recovery after pathological hysterectomy. Utilizing photobiomodulation (PBM), this non-invasive treatment improves local blood circulation, reduces inflammation, and accelerates tissue repair—enhancing therapeutic outcomes while significantly lowering the risk of post-operative complications.
