Animal fractures are a common trauma, especially for active pets. Traditional treatments are often accompanied by long recovery periods and potential complications. Laser therapy, as a cutting-edge non-invasive therapy with analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties, improved blood circulation, accelerated healing, and alternative medicine, has demonstrated significant advantages in promoting fracture healing. This case demonstrates the rapid recovery of a Ragdoll cat with a complex fracture after receiving veterinary laser therapy from VetMedix.
Diagnostic findings on pre-treatment DR imaging of a secondary tibiofibular fracture (15 CM).
Second tibiofibular fracture after treatment healed well after surgery.
Short-term Recovery:
After being diagnosed with a second fracture of the tibial fibula, the affected cat was hospitalized for one week and received VETMEDIX Small Animal High Power Laser Rehabilitation during that time. This treatment significantly reduces recovery time and provides faster and more effective treatment than traditional trauma management options by reducing inflammation, accelerating wound healing, and inhibiting scar tissue formation.
Shortly after the first high-power laser treatment, the pet showed signs of pain relief and began to try to stand with weight bearing. With each treatment, the pet’s mobility gradually increased, demonstrating the positive therapeutic effects of laser therapy. At this stage, several follow-up assessments were performed to ensure that the wound was healing properly and showing no signs of infection. One week later, the stitches were removed, the wound was healing well with no visible scarring, and the pet was taken home by the owner for further care.
Long-term Follow-up:
Four months later, the pet underwent a comprehensive review. The results showed that the fracture had almost healed, and the pet was able to run freely and no longer showed signs of lameness. The pet showed renewed vigor and active behavior. According to the owner’s feedback, the pet’s mental state and physical strength had returned to pre-injury levels.
This treatment has successfully demonstrated the effectiveness and safety of VETMEDIX small animal high-energy laser rehabilitation in the management of complex fractures.
Laser therapy has been used in human and animal rehabilitation for more than four decades and is widely recognized in the medical community for its efficiency and safety. VetMedix provides non-invasive treatment to small animals through high-energy laser photobiomodulation (PBM), which utilizes a specific wavelength of laser light to promote healing, alleviate pain, and reduce inflammation through a photochemical process that increases the efficiency of ATP conversion in the mitochondria of damaged cells, activates the synthesis of anti-inflammatory factors, replaces the use of painkillers and anti-inflammatory drugs, significantly accelerates healing and shortens the recovery cycle, and helps the animal to quickly regain vigor and health.
