Introduction
Acute neuritis can lead to hind limb paralysis, painful crying, and tail dropping in pets, and in severe cases, may cause incontinence. If left untreated, it can result in permanent spinal cord damage and lifelong paralysis. Traditional treatments primarily involve emergency surgical decompression and steroid pulse therapy. However, some cases are limited due to high anesthesia risks, postoperative infections, or long recovery periods. High-energy laser therapy is currently the most advanced physical rehabilitation method, offering rapid results and no side effects. In recent years, it has been widely applied in the field of veterinary neurology. Through high-energy density laser irradiation, it can quickly reduce spinal cord edema, inhibit inflammatory mediators, promote axonal regeneration, and facilitate rapid reconstruction of neurological function.
This report provides a complete record of the clinical application of the VetMedix veterinary laser device in treating acute paralytic neuritis in a French Bulldog, demonstrating how high-energy laser therapy brings comfortable treatment to pets.

04 Case Summary
Short-Term Recovery:
The team at Hefei Aita Pet Hospital implemented a treatment plan for the French Bulldog with acute neuritis, combining laser acupuncture therapy with manual assisted urination. After the 3rd dog laser therapy physiotherapy session, the pet’s muscle tension gradually recovered, and it was able to stand. After the 5th laser physiotherapy session, it could take short steps without painful crying. On the 7th day, it was discharged from the hospital, able to walk, run, jump, and make sudden stops and turns independently, with symmetrical gait. Bowel and bladder control returned to normal, and appetite and mental state returned to pre-illness levels.
Long-Term Follow-Up:
The pet, which had been paralyzed due to acute neuritis, recovered and was discharged after high-energy laser physiotherapy. Hind limb muscle strength returned to normal, and coat and skin condition remained normal. Walking, running, and jumping functions remained stable, with no recurrent pain or paralysis.
Conclusion
This case strongly demonstrates the significant efficacy of VetMedix small animal high-energy laser rehabilitation therapy for acute neuritis. Through its photobiomodulation (PBM) mechanism, high-energy laser therapy non-invasively penetrates deep into spinal lesions, rapidly improves local microcirculation, inhibits neuroinflammation and edema, promotes axonal regeneration and myelin repair, and significantly shortens the functional recovery period. At the same time, it avoids the long-term use and side effects of traditional high-dose steroids and analgesics.
