Introduction
Acute neuritis is one of the most challenging conditions in canine clinical practice, often triggered by spinal cord injury, neuropathy, or severe trauma. It manifests as hind limb weakness, inability to stand, or even full-body paralysis. Inflammatory stimulation can also cause pain at the affected site and muscle spasms, with some dogs experiencing limb swelling and decreased sensation, severely impacting their motor function and quality of life. If treatment is not timely or the protocol is inappropriate, inflammation may persist and worsen, leading to irreversible damage such as muscle atrophy and nerve necrosis, potentially resulting in lifelong paralysis for the dog.
Vetmedix (VETMEDIX) High-Intensity Laser Therapy, as an advanced treatment modality in veterinary clinical practice for paralytic inflammation, stands out for its advantages of being safe, non-invasive, and combining anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and tissue repair capabilities. By applying specific wavelengths of high-intensity laser light precisely to the affected area, it not only penetrates deep tissues to inhibit the activity of inflammatory factors and quickly reduce swelling and pain but also improves local microcirculation to deliver nutrients to damaged nerves and muscles. Simultaneously, it stimulates nerve regeneration and muscle function recovery, providing crucial support for the rehabilitation of paralyzed dogs.
This report fully documents the entire process of using the Vetmedix (VETMEDIX) veterinary laser device to treat paralytic inflammation in a dog, demonstrating how high-intensity laser therapy dispels the shadow of inflammation for dogs suffering from motor dysfunction and reactivates limb vitality.

04 Case Summary
Short-Term Recovery:
The French Bulldog mix experienced complete hind limb paralysis and was unable to stand upon presentation, diagnosed with acute neuritis. Without timely intervention, there was a risk of hind limb muscle atrophy. Targeting the patient’s condition, the team at Hefei Aita Pet Hospital employed Vetmedix High-Intensity Laser Therapy, combined with manual assistance for urination and acupuncture every other day, forming a multi-dimensional treatment plan. After the 4th laser physiotherapy session, the patient could stand slightly; after the 6th session, it could stand for extended periods. After the 10th treatment, inflammation in the hind limbs had significantly subsided, muscle spasms were relieved, and the patient could stand steadily without assistance, attempting to walk slowly and could autonomously control body balance.
Long-Term Follow-up:
After the treatment course, the inflammation in the patient had completely resolved. Hind limb strength and motor function were fully restored. The patient can now run and jump normally. Appetite and mental state have returned to pre-illness levels. Daily activities show no signs of limitation.
Conclusion
This case strongly demonstrates the significant efficacy of Vetmedix (VETMEDIX) Small Animal High-Intensity Laser Rehabilitation Therapy for canine acute neuritis. Through the mechanism of photobiomodulation (PBM), high-intensity laser acts on the inflammatory area in a non-invasive manner. It rapidly inhibits the activity of inflammatory factors, reduces pain and muscle spasms, while also improving local microcirculation to deliver nutrients to damaged nerves and muscles. Simultaneously, it activates nerve repair pathways and muscle function regeneration, accelerating the rehabilitation process from paralysis to autonomous movement, significantly shortening the lengthy period often required by traditional treatments.
