はじめに
In dogs, postoperative wounds from perianal tumors often show persistent exudation, with edges that are red, swollen, and everted, failing to heal normally. If left untreated, these wounds can easily be contaminated by feces, leading to perianal abscesses, and if the infection spreads, may even cause anal fistulas. Traditional treatments include repeated dressing changes, topical application of anti-inflammatory ointments, or secondary suturing. However, the perianal area is prone to fecal contamination, making wound healing slow after dressing changes. Anti-inflammatory ointments struggle to penetrate deep enough to control underlying inflammation, and secondary suturing can cause further trauma to the perianal tissues, further prolonging the healing period.
High-energy laser therapy is currently an advanced treatment method in veterinary surgery for postoperative wounds that are difficult to heal. It is safe, non-invasive, significantly effective in reducing inflammation and promoting healing, and has no obvious side effects. In recent years, it has been widely used for wound repair in sensitive areas such as the perianal region. By precisely irradiating the wound area with high-energy laser, it can penetrate the skin surface to inhibit the activity of pathogenic bacteria within the wound, reducing the risk of infection. It also promotes local blood circulation in the perianal area, delivering sufficient nutrients to the wound, while stimulating the growth of granulation tissue and accelerating the regeneration of epithelial cells at the wound edges, thereby shortening the wound healing period.
This report fully documents the use of the VetMedix 動物用レーザー装置 for the repair treatment of a non-healing postoperative wound from a perianal tumor in a dog. It demonstrates how high-energy laser therapy addresses the challenges of perianal wound healing, restoring comfort during defecation.

短期的な回復:
The pet suffered from a non-healing wound after perianal tumor surgery, with persistent exudation and red, swollen, hardened edges. The team at Hefei Aita Pet Hospital decided to use VetMedix high-energy laser therapy. During treatment, leveraging the high-energy precision irradiation function of the VetMedix laser device, the therapy accurately targeted the poorly healing perianal area, effectively avoiding damage to surrounding healthy tissues. It simultaneously inhibited the activity of pathogenic bacteria in the wound, effectively controlling superficial infection and reducing exudation. It promoted local blood circulation in the perianal area, delivering sufficient nutrients to the wound, while activating the growth of granulation tissue and accelerating wound repair. After 5 laser therapy sessions, the pet’s wound exudation stopped, edge redness and swelling significantly subsided, it no longer curled up or shivered during defecation, and its appetite gradually returned to pre-surgery levels.
長期フォローアップ:
Upon reexamination after discharge, the pet’s perianal wound had completely healed, with smooth skin and no scarring. The perianal tissue elasticity returned to normal, with no exudation, redness, or swelling, and no wound reopening or secondary infection occurred. Daily defecation was smooth, with no signs of pain.
結論
This case strongly demonstrates the significant efficacy of VetMedix small animal high-energy laser rehabilitation therapy for non-healing postoperative wounds from perianal tumors in dogs. Through its photobiomodulation (PBM) mechanism, high-energy laser acts non-invasively on difficult-to-heal postoperative perianal wound areas. It rapidly improves local microcirculation in the perianal region, delivering ample nutrients to the wound, while inhibiting the activity of pathogenic bacteria to control infection and reduce inflammation and swelling in the surrounding tissues. It also accelerates the regeneration of granulation tissue and the repair of skin epithelial cells, significantly shortening the wound healing period.
